3P WSH Walkabout 2026 for the Construction Industry
02 Oct 2026 Announcements
About the Initiative
Following the recent spate of workplace fatalities in September 2026, MOM has called on companies in the construction and transportation & storage industries to conduct a voluntary Safety Time-Out (STO) from 5 to 18 October.
For the construction industry, the STO provides an opportunity to review WSH processes and work practices, with particular focus on the safe use of concrete pumps and vehicle safety.
The 3P WSH Walkabout (3PWW) 2026 complements the STO by encouraging project leaders and stakeholders to assess worksite conditions, review safety practices and address risks on the ground.
This year, the 3PWW places greater emphasis on the involvement of Project Managers (PMs), recognising their critical role in influencing project safety outcomes through planning, coordination, supervision and decision-making.
The 3Ps stand for:
- Proactive – Anticipate and address risks before incidents occur.
- Prevention – Embed safety considerations into project planning and execution.
- Partnerships – Foster collaboration among developers, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors and workers to achieve safe project outcomes.
Through regular walkabouts and meaningful onsite conversations, project stakeholders can identify workplace risks, reinforce safe work practices and strengthen collective ownership of WSH.
The 3PWW supports this year’s National WSH Campaign theme “I Choose Safety. Together We Care”. It also reinforces the practice of “Pause. Check. Make it Safe.”

Why Project Managers Matter
Project Managers* play a pivotal role in shaping a project’s safety performance and culture. Beyond managing cost, quality and schedule, PMs influence how WSH considerations are integrated into project planning, work sequencing, subcontractor management and resource allocation.
Through the 3P WSH Walkabout, PMs are encouraged to:
- Lead safety conversations with supervisors and workers.
- Identify operational challenges that may give rise to unsafe work practices.
- Check that risks have been adequately addressed before work proceeds.
- Demonstrate visible leadership and commitment to WSH.
- Work with project stakeholders to resolve safety concerns promptly and effectively.
By actively participating in walkabouts, PMs can gain first-hand insights into worksite conditions, strengthen risk ownership and reinforce the message that safe project delivery is everyone’s responsibility.
* Includes PM from developer, consultant, main contractor and sub-contractors
